Financial Aid To Attend College
There are a variety of financial aid programs that can help you pay for your college whether you take classes online or physically attend a university. These programs include grants, scholarships and loans. To apply for any financial aid through a state or federal program, you will need to complete a Free Application for Financial Aid also known as FAFSA .
Federal Grants
Students taking online classes may qualify for federal grants to pay for their college expenses. Grants are awarded to those students based on their financial needs. Grants do not have to be repaid and are essentially free money allowing you to take college courses.Pell Grant
This is the most common student federal grant. Pell Grants are awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant - FSEOG
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need.
Academic Competitiveness Grant - ACG
The Academic Competitiveness Grant is available to students who took challenging courses in high school.
The National Science & Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant - SMART
The National Smart Grant is available during the third and fourth years of undergraduate study (or fifth year of a five-year program) to at least half-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, engineering or a critical foreign language; or non-major single liberal arts programs.
TEACH Grant Program
The TEACH Grant is for students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.

Every state has an office that provides financial and informational resources for those students who would like to pursue their education beyond high school. If you have a financial need, the federal government will give you a loan to help pay for your college expenses. A subsidized loan means you do not accure any interest while you are in school. With an unsubsidized loan, the interest will accrue while you're taking classes. With both loans, you do not have to make any payments until after you graduate.Stafford Loans
