The application process will involve employment application, testing and interviews, and intensive background investigation. Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, valid Driver's License, no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, be of good moral character and be in good physical condition. Nebraska law enforcement certification is preferred but not necessary. Non-certified applicants must be able to meet the NLETC qualifications to be accepted for basic training.
This competitive testing begins at 8:30 a.m. and includes a written civil service exam, physical agility test and with the higher scoring candidates participating in a Columbus Civil Service Commission interviews that start in the late afternoon. Bring DD214 for Veteran Credit.
