MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
LATERALS
If you are currently employed as a California Peace Officer with one year of experience, or if you have been employed within the past 12 months with a minimum of one year of experience, and you possess or are eligible to possess a California POST Basic Certificate issued by the Commission on Peace officer Standards and Training you qualify as a Lateral Candidate.
ACADEMY ATTENDEES & GRADUATES
Academy graduates are applicants who are currently enrolled in or have successfully completed, within the last two years, a California POST approved basic academy. Certification of successful completion of a Re-qualification course issued by California POST within the last two years is also qualifying for Academy Graduate Status. For current Academy attendees, you must be in the final phase of a POST academy at the time of application.

SELECTION PROCESS
All completed applications will be reviewed by a screening committee. For Lateral and Graduate Academy applicants, a copy of your POST Police Academy Certificate must be included with your application. Applications received without a copy of your POST Police Academy Certificate will be considered incomplete and will not be considered further in the process. For current Academy Attendees, you must be in the final phase of a POST Academy at time of application.
