- be a U.S. citizen
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 21 years of age
- possess a high school diploma or GED
- have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from a college or university

HOW TO APPLY
There are two ways to become a Patrol Deputy with the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department. One, apply as a Correctional Officer, get hired, work the job with professionalism, dedication and pride, then test to be promoted to the the Patrol Division.
Second, as an existing full-time Police Officer from another Police Department (you must be a certified Police Officer) you can lateral over to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.
To apply as a correctional officer, complete their application and mail it to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, 700 North 5th Street, Belleville, Il. 62220, or deliver it between 9:00 a.m. & 9:00 p.m.
