MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- be a U.S. citizen
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 21 years of age
- possess a high school diploma or GED
- have at least 30 college credits from an accredited college or university
OR
- have the life experience equivalent to 30 college credits as determined by the Chief of Police
SELECTION PROCESS
- written entrance exam
- oral interview
- polygraph test
- drug screening test
- background investigation
- medical examination
- physical agility test
- psychological test
HOW TO APPLY
It is the policy of the Gaithersburg Police Department to accept applications at anytime, pursuant to applicable sections of the City Code, and the State of Maryland and Federal statutes.
Upon receiving your application, you will be provided with this receipt to acknowledge that your application was received. Information from your application will be entered into our data base to provide easy tracking of your application, and if we are hiring at that time, your application was received on or before the official filing deadline, and your application meets our minimum qualifications, it will be included in our current process.
If we are not hiring when you file your application with us, we will maintain your application on file for a period of one year, and you will be notified if your application will be included in our next selection process (based on the department�s current needs). Your application will remain on file for one year even if it was included in our process and you were not appointed to probationary status.
