These entry-level positions entail many diverse responsibilities, some of which may be physically and psychologically demanding. Duties include shift work, community service, patrol, criminal apprehension, preliminary investigations and traffic enforcement. Selected candidates must complete written and oral panel evaluation, background investigation, polygraph exam, and drug screening, as well as pass medical, psychological and physical skills testing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - be a U.S. citizen - possess a valid NC driver's license - be at least 21 years of age - possess a high school diploma or equivalent - Must be currently enrolled in BLET, a recent BLET graduate, or hold sworn officer status SELECTION PROCESS - written entrance exam - oral interview - polygraph test - drug screening test - background investigation - medical examination - physical agility test - psychological test HOW TO APPLY Application packages are available online ( http://www.garnerpd.org ) or by calling 919-773-4415.
