- be a U.S. citizen
- possess a valid driver's license
- be at least 18 years of age
- possess a high school diploma or GED
- possess an Associate Degree (or 60 semester hours of college credit) with a GPA of 2.0 or better

The Cities of Bismarck, Mandan, and Minot, and Burleigh, Morton, Counties are combining efforts to test applicants for law enforcement patrol and detention and correction officer positions that may be available in the future.
