Mathematical Cross Multiplying Sample Questions
Answer To Cross Multiplying Question #1

The correct answer is C. We know that M/G = Z/x with x being the gallons needed to travel Z miles. Using cross multiplying you have the following formulas:
	 M		 Z				 GZ
	----	=	----	Mx = GZ		x =	-----
	 G		 x				 M
The same thing will work if you had numbers instead of letters. Lets say that M = 400 miles and G = 10 gallons and Z = 200 miles. You can probably figure this out in your head. If a car can travel 400 miles on 10 gallons of gas, it will only need 5 gallons to travel 200 miles. You get the same number using cross multiplying.

	 400		 200
	-----	=	-----	   400 x = 2000
	 10		  x

		 2000
	x =	-------		x = 5
		 400
